Dolf Rieser (1893-1983) VIEW BIOGRAPHY CLOSE BIOGRAPHY

Printmaker and teacher, born in King William’s Town, South Africa. As a small boy was educated in Germany and Switzerland. In 1917 he studied at Ecole Polytechnic, Zurich, obtaining a diploma in agricultural engineering, then from 1918-22 obtained doctorate in science at the University of Lausanne , in 1923 researching in science at Munich University while studying art with Hans Hoffman. After settling in Paris in 1928, Rieser studied at Atelier 17 with Hayter and Joseph Hecht. Having moved to England to join the war effort in 1940, in 1945 Rieser settled to civillian life there, lecturing in biology, liberal studies and art, also giving private tuition in printmaking.
