Painted of abstracts in oils and also a printmaker. He studied at the Royal College of Art and held his first solo exhibition in 1956 at the New Vision Centre Gallery, subsequently showing in London, the provinces and abroad. His work is represented in collections including the Tate Gallery. He was a co-founder of the Free Painters Group in 1952, co-founder and Director of the New Vision Centre Gallery 1956-66, founder member (with Jon Bellany) of 'Celtic Vision', 1982, and associated with Yugoslav artists through his membership of International Art Critics. He has taught widely in England and Canada. In the 1950s ahe painted tachiste abstract works and in the 1970s his technical experiments produced the 'Psychadelic Light' paintings. Later work returned to a freer style and a brighter palette.
