Lucian Freud: Illustrated letters to John Craxton

Osborne Samuel are delighted to be part of the celebration of the centenary year of British painters Lucian Freud (1922-2011) and John Craxton (1922-2009), alongside exhibitions focussed on the former artist at the National Gallery and Freud Museum, as well as a major new publication by Thames & Hudson, Love Lucian: The Letters of Lucian Freud 1939-1954. Our exhibition brings together the illustrated letters by Freud to John Craxton during the 1940s, when their friendship was at its strongest, and includes a group of early Freud drawings and selected works by John Craxton. The latter’s Landscape with Rocks (1942) is appearing in a gallery show for the first time in over half a century.
